How to use Feature Layer TruckTrafficPatterns

The new Feature Layer TruckTrafficPatterns was released recently with the new PTV Europe City Map Premium 2016.1H. Everything you have to know to get started is explained here:

What is it?TruckTrafficPatterns

The Truck Traffic Patterns are derived from (car) Traffic Patterns, influenced by many other data like height data, truck speed limits or passing restrictions. Route calculation for trucks considering typical traffic situation at a certain week day and a certain time of day can be done with this Feature Layer. To visualize this traffic situation the according route segments are colored. But because of the reason that the focus of truck routes is on major roads the coloring of segments is not realized for lower street levels. Moreover it is important to use either the TruckTrafficPatterns or the (car)TrafficPatterns at the same time!

Furthermore you have to know that TruckTrafficPatterns and TruckSpeedPatterns are the same Feature Layer and that they are used synonymously. TruckSpeedPatterns is used for the theme name and all including files. In every other case the name TruckTrafficPatterns is used.

What do I need to use it?

  • It is important to know that you have to adapt the vehicle profiles truckfast.xml, truckslow.xml, default.xml and trafficinfoloader.xml to use this Feature Layer. In the Dynamic Routing section you have to deactivate/delete the SpeedMapping because this would falsify the routing times. Furthermore there is a new Feature Layer Theme available, called PTV_TruckSpeedPatterns
  • License: Each Feature Layer theme must be licensed separately and for each PTV xServer

How to use Feature Layer PTV Traffic Incidents

PTV_TrafficIncidentsTogether with our PTV xServer Release 1.20, the new Feature Layer “PTV Traffic Incidents” was released. Didn’t try it yet? Here is all you need to know to get started.

What is it?

TI_scale_150Feature Layer add additional routing network and rendering attributes to a map. The Feature Layer PTV Traffic Incidents provides actual traffic information to consider incidents like traffic jams in the route planning. The information is provided as dynamic Feature Layer and can be automatically downloaded from the PTV Layer Delivery Server with the PTV Content Update Service plugin.

What do I need to use it?

  • PTV xServer 1.20
  • Installed and configured PTV Content Update Service
  • License: Each Feature Layer theme must be licensed separately and for each PTV xServer

Where can I get it?

The PTV Content Update Service can be downloaded from the customer area of the PTV Developer Zone (login is required). If you have installed and configured the service properly the traffic information data is automatically downloaded in your defined folder. Please contact your sales representative in order to get the corresponding license keys.

Update of PropertyConnector available

An update of the PropertyConnector file is available: propertyConnectorV004. If you use FeatureLayer with a PTV xServer 1.20.x you should get the new version. It includes two optimizations for the FeatureLayer PTV_TruckAttributes.

The PropertyConnector is an xml file which connects attributes in the FeatureLayer with parameters in the vehicle profiles. With PTV xServer 1.20.x a versioning of the propertyConnector has been introduced. So make sure to always use the current version. PTV xServer versions before 1.20.x can always use the propertyConnector without version number.

The file has to be placed in the map root directory in Test_environment_80s80parallel to the geo-folder, e.g. under ..\PTV_Europe_City_Map_Premium_2015_1H\detailedmap parallel to the “eur”-folder.

The current PropertyConnector file can be downloaded from the PTV xServer Patches or Customer Area.

Update your data with the PTV Content Update Service

PTV_X-Server_Add-ons_80x80You may have heard about our PTV Content Update Service or you may know it from your toll updates. With our new feature layer PTV_TrafficIncidents the service will gain in importance. So here you can find some questions and answers which should help you to understand and use the update service.

What is the PTV Content Update Service?

With the PTV Content Update Service you are able to download new data content automatically. The data is provided on the PTV Layer Delivery Server, can be accessed by the PTV Content Update Service and will be integrated in your PTV xServer:

You can choose between a polling mechanism or a subscription mechanism to update your data. Several PTV xServer can use one update service together.

Which data is available for which PTV xServer?

The update service is available for PTV xRoute and PTV xMap server and provides toll updates and data for our brand new feature layer traffic incidents.

  • You automatically receive updated data without downloading it manually

How do I get the PTV Content Update Service?

The update service is a plugin for the PTV xServer and is installed as webapp. The PTV xRoute versions 1.16. to 1.18 already contain the PTV Content Update Service. It is deactivated by default -so you have to activate it in the configuration. Since version 1.20 the update service is delivered as seperated artefact and can be downloaded from the customer area of the PTV Developer Zone
