PTV xServer internet update on PTV North/South America City Map cluster with API Version 1

We plan to perform maintenance on July, 8th 2019 that does not require any downtime.
The following tasks will be completed in the scope of this maintenance.

Improved Geocoding in Bazil on test, integration and production:

The geocoding response from the xServer now contains the two-digit abbreviation of the state, as it was specified in the request.
This update also effects the reverse geocoding. The state will be returned as a two-digit abbreviation in the response.

PTV xServer .NET SDK 1.6 is now available for API Version 1 and 2

Easily add PTV xServer functionality to your .NET applications with our new .NET SDK release. The new.NET SDK 1.6 is now compatible with PTV xServer API version 1 and 2, unfortunately the DemoCenter is still only available for API version 1.

Changes and Optimizations

  • Added support for integration of XMap2 Layers including Feature Layers
  • Added support for integration of Web Map Tile Services (WMTS)
  • Optimized tile caching and pruning
  • The InifiniteZoom property (to avoid jitter at deep zoom levels) is now set to true by default. This setting should be compatible with the previous setting. If you experience problems with your custom layer implementation, you can set it back to false. However, this property will be removed in future releases.
  • The MemoryPressureMode flag is ignored and marked as obsolete.
  • The protocol for the provider returning tooltip information has changed. Now the provider now must implement IUntiledProviderWithMapObjects:GetImageStreamAndMapObjects().

Bug fixes

  • Some minor bug fixes
  • Fixed rendering error if the Container-Control sets UseLayoutRounding

DownloadSoftware Development Kit

Customers with maintenance plan can download the .NET SDK from our Customer Area in our Developer Zone. After download the following components are available:

  • PTV xServer .NET components: map controls and other supporting functions for the creation of client applications.
  • Demo Center: Sample program illustrating typical scenarios and use cases of PTV xServer applications: map visualisations, routing, trip planning etc. The Demo Center is only available for API Version 1. The source code of the Demo Center is also included in the SDK for the retracing of the implementation.
  • Code Samples: Exemplary implementations demonstrate the utilization of the PTV xServer .NET components, e.g. map layers, rendering, routing demos etc.
  • Documentation: How-to descriptions, technical concepts and SDK reference in CHM-format.

Open Source project in GitHub

The PTV xServer .NET SDK is now also available as an open source project in GitHub. We decided to give the community the possibility to work on the source directly and modify it for their own needs. The GitHub project consists of:

PTV xServer internet – Renewal of the SSL certificate

We would like to inform you that we will update our SSL certificate in the week of October 8th 2018.

All changes will be happening “behind-the-scenes”, so you shouldn’t need to take action, nor should you encounter problems or interruptions to the service.

Nevertheless, we want to give you the chance to test your applications with the new certificate. Therefore, the PTV Europe City Map (TomTom) test cluster was updated already to the new SSL certificate.

PTV xServer internet uses a SSL certificate issued by T-Systems Trust Center. This certificate is usually supported by the majority of clients, client library or browsers. The certificate is deployed e.g. on https://xmap-eu-n-test.cloud.ptvgroup.com; it can be viewed or downloaded through any browser.

In Google Chrome you need to navigate to https://xmap-eu-n-test.cloud.ptvgroup.com and to open the Security pane in the development tools (F12):

The certificate chain is as follows:

If your client requires manual configuration to establish the trust chain, you will find the official root and intermediate certificates here:

Please refer to your client documentation for further details how to import and activate those certificates.

Update on Layer Delivery Service (LDS) for PTV Content Update Service

featurelayerThe new release of the Layer Delivery Service (LDS) replaces the previous version creating the Feature Layer Traffic Incidents. Normally the LDS supply the Feature Layer into the products automatically, but with the update there is something to take care of:

Please restart your Content Update Service (CUS) to refresh the connection and get the newest layers from the new LDS. For all Content Update Service versions, this has to be done manually.

For your information we have recently released the CUS Version 2.8.0.
This is now fully featured to supply Toll Updates and Feature Layer Traffic Incidents. The CUS Version 2.8 can also be used with PTV xServer API Version 1 when using the PTV CUS xServer1 Adapter.

The PTV Content Update Service 2.8 and the respective PTV CUS xServer1 Adapter can be downloaded from the customer area of the PTV Developer Zone (login required).
