Announcement of discontinuation – PTV maps 2014 for PTV xServer and PTV Mapserver

We would like to let you know that PTV GROUP will be discontinuing all versions of the PTV Maps 2014 as listed below on 01/01/2016. From then onwards, we will no longer provide updates and support for those versions which have been released for PTV xServer and PTV Mapserver. Please notice that this discontinuation includes detailed, extracted and transit maps and the corresponding data content such as traffic patterns, truck attributes, POIs, toll scenarios, ID mappings, etc. if available. New map versions are already provided by PTV (see presentation at our web-site).

Why are the PTV Maps being phased out?

The PTV Maps are constantly being enhanced. Many new and improved functions or content have been integrated at the request of our customers. In addition, you will have noticed that a maintenance contract on the current versions pays off, as it offers a better data coverage. It also guarantees that you remain up-to-date – a basic prerequisite for day-to-day operations. PTV Group is therefore meeting the growing requirements of its clients. The current maps therefore create the perfect conditions to visualize your business applications.

Integration of Satellite Images

PTV exclusively provides two-dimensional satellite imagery hosted by HERE. In combination with PTV maps, the satellite images visualize a detailed landscape view. These images are available for several continents such as Europe, North America and Australia.

HERE’s license agreement

To get access to HERE you need to have an evaluation or an enterprise license key which are provided by PTV. Please contact your sales contact partner.

  • Evaluation: 90-day license limited to non-commercial, internal evaluation of satellite Map-Logoimagery
  • Enterprise: The enterprise keys are available for commercial and non-commercial applications

Setting Credentials

First you have to supply the HERE credentials in your web-application to obtain the 2D satellite images. Following elements have to be acquired before:

Using PTV´s test page:

In order to open the test page, the valid evaluation or enterprise license key is obligatory. The following test page is enabled to validate the key. Visit the HERE Satellite Sample and follow the instructions.

News on enlargement of federal road toll in Germany

PTV Toll Data Update

Please note that the final and exact information of the extended federal highway toll is also not available to PTV Group before its introduction on 1 July 2015. For this reason and the downstream steps that are required for the preparation of the data in all the maps used in PTV Logistic products, the new and exact toll scenario is expected to be available early August.

Nevertheless, the federal road toll extension already can be taken into account with the in your product available toll scenario from January 2015 and in an older version from October 2014. These toll scenarios were created with the help of information publicly known at this time and provides already now the best possible calculation of the new toll.

Announcement of discontinuation PTV Mapserver 5.7

We would like to let you know that PTV GROUP will be discontinuing the PTV Mapserver version 5.7 on 01/04/2015. From then onwards, we will no longer provide updates and support for this version. Please notice that new versions are ready for download at the Customer Area (login is required).

The following versions will be discontinued on 01/04/2015:

Why are the products being phased out?

The PTV Mapserver SDK is constantly being enhanced. Many new and improved functions have been integrated in the past at the request of our customers. In addition, you will have noticed that a maintenance contract on the current versions pays off, as it integrates extended functions. It also guarantees that you remain up-to-date – a basic prerequisite for day-to-day operations. PTV Group is therefore meeting the growing requirements of its clients. On the other hand, costs arise from supporting older software versions. For this reason, PTV Group, like other software providers, has to limit the number of software versions available. Our resources will be redirected into further improving the PTV Mapserver. The current software solutions therefore create the perfect conditions for your business applications.

 

New patch is available for toll data using transit level network

PTV would like to let you know that patches are available for toll calculation using following PTV Maps on transit level (using PTV xServer and PTV Mapserver):

Relevant Map packages
2014.1N (Navteq)
  • DACH, BENELUX, SCANDINAVIA etc.
  • Single IUs such as Germany, France etc.

Download is not necessary when PTV Europe City Map Premium is in total use.

 Toll data is missing for Andorra and Czech Republic. But this has an impact on total toll calculation.
2014.1T (TomTom)
  • DACH, BENELUX, SCANDINAVIA etc.
  • Single IUs such as Germany, France etc.

Download is not necessary when PTV Europe City Map Premium is in total use.

 Toll data is missing for Italy using transit level.

Please notice that we have updated the PTV Developer Zone. A new patch area is selectable for downloads using PTV xServer and PTV Mapserver as follows:
